Territorial friction between cats is almost always caused by rushing direct visual contact. Cats map their world primarily through olfactory signatures.
Keep the newcomer in a dedicated sanctuary room for 7–14 days. Swap bedding, brush both cats with the same comb, and feed meals on opposite sides of a closed door.
